Well done Lancashire Record Office, I've just spent a very informative hour there. The new layout looks much improved, with better lighting. You now don't need a readers ticket to view microfiche and microfilm records, it is open to anyone. The conducted tour of the strongroom was interesting, so was the box making room. I'm looking forward to Monday when it opens properly

I need to go but cant remember why ;D
never been to any before so don't know what to expect

Unfortunately I couldn't get to the preview. Must be an unusual step for a county records office not to require a CARN ticket.
Actually not sure how it works, as you always had to show your reader's ticket on the way out to prove that you'd handed back any records you'd been looking at.
Looking forward to getting back there, as I've a long, long list of things in parish registers to look up!

When you walk in, the microfiche and microfilm readers are where the maps used to be, you don't need a readers card for those. To access the rest of the office a card is needed
