Title: Marriage Look up in Bristol please Completed with Thanks
Post by: Dav on Wednesday 12 October 11 04:35 BST (UK)
Hello I was wondering if some one who may have a few moments to spare at the Bristol Record Office could look up some marriage details for me.
The marriage is that of Emma Stratton and Robert Long and took place on 25 December 1841 at St Phillip and Jacob, Emma's father's name was Thomas Stratton, I would be very interested if some one could tell me what Thomas Stratton's occupation was, whether he was deceased or not ( bit of a long shot, but I believe it was sometimes recorded ) and the names of a witnesses.
Thanks very much
Dav

Hello Dav
I have looked at the microfilch parish records for St James Bristol
Robert Long of Full Age Batchelor Occupation Sailor of St Phillips
Married
Emma Stratton of Full Age Spinster of St Phillips
Robert Long Father was William Long Labour
Emma Stratton Father was Thomas Stratton Mariner
The witnesses were Joseph Chant who made his mark and Henry ( looks like Nash) who was probably the parish clerk as he appears on many entries
All parties made their mark

No one was described as deceased

Hope this helps
Sue

Completed
Thankyou very much Sue for the look up on Emma Stratton's marriage, the info has turned out to be very useful, I was 95% sure that Emma belonged to our family, but to convince me I needed her father Thomas Stratton to be a Sailer/Mariner.
Once again thank you very much.
Dave
