Thanks for the link SusieKelly ;)
Jim - I am searching for info on the Quin(n) family who resided in Sutton from 1850 onwards. I'm pretty sure they were Irish Catholics
There are quite a few dates I am looking for - I know that a CD is available but I was quite reluctant to purchase it just in case they didnt use that particular church - I know they arent in the Sutton C of E Registers which are online:
Michael Quinn b abt 1825 married Margaret - dont know where & When but I assume they were married when they crossed the water - their ist child Michael was born in Yorkshire 1849 died in Sutton 1858 - the following Children were born in Sutton - so if you can find anything on them it would be much appreciated:
James 1851
Mary 1854
Margaret 1857
John 1858
Ann 1861
Michael 1865
Thanks very much in anticipation ;D
Cheers

They were originally from Kings County, Ireland according to the 1851 census.

Hi Jim
Could you please do me another look up ? :-[
I think Michael Quinn (born 1865) married Ellen (Duffy?) at St Anne's in 1887 - could you please check the details for me ?
Cheers

Sorry Jan, but I can find no record of a marriage between Michael Quinn and Ellen Duffy at St Annes in 1887 or in any other year.
Perhaps it was in a neighbouring parish. Where was Ellen Duffy's home?
Regards
Jim

Thanks for looking for me Jim, Most Appreciated :-*
I dont know where she was from - in the 1911 census she states she is from Widnes - this is also where their first child Margaret Ann was born in 1888, all their other children were born in Earlestown, nr Newton-le-Willows. Yet in 1901/1891 her place of birth is Connah's Quay Flintshire but I cant find a birth for an Ellen Duffy c1868 in Flint or Widnes - I thought she might be a widow, which is why I asked for a look up. The marriage district is Prescot so I suppose it could have been in Widnes - Lancs BMD gives the marriage as Prescot Registry Office or Registrar attended - which points to everyone else but Church of England marriages ;)
Cheers again

There is an Ellen Quinn of 92 Edgeworth St Sutton, buried at St Annes who died in 1952 aged 71 but that would make her too young for your Ellen

Free BMD has the marriage, with another couple on the same page:
1887 Q4 Prescot 8b 997
BOLTON Lizzie
Duffy Ellen
QUINN Michael
White Peter

Is there a baptism between 1861 and 1863 for another Mary Quinn at St Anne's ?
I have been comparing notes with someone and she cant find parentage for her Mary Quinn who was also born in Sutton.
Thanks so much in anticipation :D

Jan,
There is a baptism at St Annes for Mary Quinn born 28 March 1862 to John Comfort and Anne (no maiden name) Witness Ann White.
There is also a baptism for James Comfort born 2 March 1860, parents John Comfort and Anne Quinn, Witness Catherine Brady
