Hi George

By 1891 Ellen is widowed but Samuel's brother Henry is still part of her household, as are her children Alice, William and James.

FreeBMD shows a possible death...

September Quarter 1889
Prestwich 8d 275

WELSH Samuel aged 41

By 1901 Alice is married to Archibald DODDS, living Manchester, also in her household is her mother Ellen WELSH and her brother James WELSH

Cheers

If he was known as Walsh when younger perhaps one of these:

WALSH  Samuel    Dewsbury  22 47   Dec qtr 1843

Walsh  Samuel     Bury L  21 355    Mar qtr 1845
Walsh  Samuel Charles     W Derby  20 984    Mar qtr 1845

Walsh  Samuel     Bury L  21 286 Dec qtr 1846

Hi,

I'm not sure about the family found in 1871, I found this marriage for a couple which looks more like them,

Marriage: 10 Jul 1869 Holy Trinity (Now St. Peter), Over Darwen, Lancashire, England
Samuel WALSH    20    Labourer     Bachelor of Radford St
Ellen ASPIN          20    Weaver     Spinster of George St
Groom's Father:    Ellis WALSH,    Deceased    Labourer
Bride's Father:    John ASPIN    Weaver
Witness: James SANDHAM    Elizabeth SANDHAM

Unfortunately I can't find a more likely candidate though :(

Regards,
Daisy

Hello There.....

I think it likely, that the family on the 1861 census, that Karenlee gave you is the correct one.

I have found a baptism for HENRY WELCH.....

Born February 4th 1828, baptised on the 18th, at St Mary the Virgin, Radcliffe
Father Thomas WELCH, Mother ANN

There is a marriage at the same church, on November 3rd 1823, between a Thomas WELSH and a Ann LORD

Remembering ages were rounded down in 1841 this could be Ann and Thomas in 1841,

1841    HO107/549/2  f.25  p.15  Radcliffe
Radcliffe Hall

WAL?H
Thomas    35    Block Printer
Ann         35
Phobe?    15
James      15
Henry      10
Jane        10
John          8
Mary         6
William       2                All born in County

Daisypetal......

That is looking good.

Thomas and Ann did have a daughter called Phoebe, and I believe she is the mother of young William age 2.......Now if only we could find them in 1851, with young Samuel !!

Using Familysearch,

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0bq/

I can find baptisms for all the children on the 1841 census, including William, with parents Thomas and Ann. No sign of Alice or Samuel though, I wonder if they were illegitimate children of one of the daughters :-\
