Title: Barton I
Post by: Val in Tasmania on Saturday 07 May 05 06:03 BST (UK)
Goodafternoon All from a sunny (for once) Tasmania

Could I ask the list if anyone could tell me if BARTON I which is noted on a record is perhaps Barton Island/Inlet/Isle or something similar. Could anyone give me a location also please.

Cheers

Val

The only Bartons I know of in Lancashire are both towns.

Barton in Preston
Barton upon Irwell ( could it be this one)

What sort of record have you got your information from?

Hi Dinkey
Thanks for your quick response. I got the info off the marriages on 1837online.

It simply says BARTON I

Details of location of Barton upon Irwell are at

www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/lan.htm

If you got the information from a birth/marriage/death entry, and the volume number part of the reference number is "xx" or "8c", then I'm pretty sure it will be Barton upon Irwell

Thank you so much for the info. I will look at the website. The marriage record does show "8c" so your hunch sounds correct. I will now send for the actual certificate.

Best Wishes on Mothers Day here downunder
