Hi
Looking for help trying to work out ancestry of William Hunt Snr of Pittencrief, Logie and Urqhart born circa 1710 died circa 1788.
It is well documented that William Hunt Snr married Helen Young of Dunfermline and from what I have found so far it would appear that all their children are named after Helen's family. All witnesses in baptism records are Helens relations ie: Alexander Young, Merchant, Alexander Young Mason (think Merchant is possibly her father and maybe Mason her younger brother) then there are numerous mentions of Thomas Anderson, baker in Dunfermline and James Anderson his son also of Dunfermline. These I think were her uncle and cousin as Helen's mother I think if correct was Elspeth Anderson.
Due to naming of Alexander Young and Elspeth Young's children I think Alexander Young's father may have been a Charles Young but cannot find any births of an Alexander Young to Charles to fit through SP... Does anyone have any info to help with this link???
Regarding William Hunt Snr I did find an Edward Hunt and Elspeth Wilson who gave birth to a William Hunt in 1710 in Dunfermline through SP and when baptised was witnessed by a Charles Hunt.... although I find it strange that William Hunt if this would be true would not name any children after his own father???
Is there anyone in Dunfermline area who may be able to shed some light on this as I would be very grateful for any help as now at a dead end ???
Thank you ;D

Hi
If you have a look at the counter at the top of your post - it has been read by 355 people.
Unfortunately - none were able to help with your query. I appreciate it is frustrating when you get no replies but be assured - if any Rootschat member could have helped, they would have done

Hi Maris
Bumping up is not appreciated here on RC (know it happens on other forums). You can see the amount of new posts being added each day to the different boards. If people bumped up older post for extra attention, it would all grind to a halt!
In reality, people come across posts in the main through general google searches for key words/names. Hopefully, this will happen with your post in time.
Monica :)
