For those that are interested Mozilla has just released version 7 of Firefox. Obviously there are 'improvements' but I have not as yet checked.
-
I am still using 3.6 !
It is telling me the latest version is 3.6.23, but I will probably upgrade to the very latest version soon. I wouldn't take much notice of of the number system on these latest versions as they seem to jump with each minor change, version 8 will probably be out soon.
-
I believe version 9 is already out in Beta!
-
I have been using FF7 and I've found it pretty good so far!
Never had any complaints with Mozilla.
It does seem to be fairly odd with it's updates though - I was on 3.6 for ages and then suddenly feel like I've gone from 5 to 6 to 7 in a matter of weeks!
-
Problems with memory management though!
Compare memory usage for comparative websites using firefox and say Internet Explorer.

I had the update this afternoon (on Window 7 Prof) and it did something very strange to the Tool bars. I'm not sure what but my address bar and other shortcuts completely disappeared. It took me all of 5 mins to make it look as it did before ::)
Previous updates (even major ones) have been fine and leave everything 'as is'

gnu - A fair number of add ons were not compatible with ff7!
Although ff will continue to check for compatible add ons.

Yes - thanks, Brian. It keeps telling me so after each update but I don't see anything that's missing. I don't have a lot of add ons - just the usual ;D
It seems to be working fine after the initial hic

I make add ons compatible with nightly tester tool.Nightly Tester Tools features the ability to disable addon compatibility checks

I'm staying with 6 for now.

Further up-date. I have just read 'cnet news' and they say that Mozilla intends to release new versions every 6 weeks!! The growing problem of add-ons not being compatible is being addressed but will not be resolved until Firefox10!!
-
There is an easy soloution to the add on problem is the issue is going to be fixed in version 10. Don't update to 7,8 or 9 and wait until ten.
I have now updated to version 7 (from 3.6) and surpringly there were only 3 that didn't work, two of which I found replacement for.

In view of this definitely staying with 6, and shan't be an early user of 10 either! Will let things settle.
