My great grandfather John O'Neil born in 1838 states in one England Census that he was born in County Clare Weland Sawis. I have never heard of it. Also on a later England census he came fron County Clare Travin. I have not been able to find when he arrived in Engalnd.
Hope someone can help.Thank you

Could you post the portion of each place from the census records (only a small portion allowed for deciphering purposes not the whole page) or if not then give the census references so that others can have a look and try to figure out the places written.
Wonder if 'Weland' is really Ireland?

Found the 1901 census entry "County Clare Weland Sawis"- suspect you were reading the transcription and not actual census? It is County Clare Ireland _____.

In the 1901 census John O'Neil states that he was born County Clare Tavin which I have not heard before. Is there any way that I could check when he left Ireland and went to England. I do have his fathers name which was Denis O'Neil.
Thank you for the information so far.

Ireland was part of the U.K. so records weren't kept of people travelling between Ireland and England, Scotland, Wales.
