Can anyone help with an Old Duston baptism lookup? It's a long shot, I just found my great-grandad in the 1911 census aged six and so born in 1904-5 in Old Duston. The name is Edward GOODMAN.
The complication is that they were gypsies and so his siblings were all born in different places so I'm hoping maybe to find his baptism in Duston. I've never managed to find a birth for him anywhere in official records even though many of his siblings were registered.
His mothers name was Reservoi SMITH and father Edward GOODMAN so he could be under SMITH or even LOVERIDGE at this time.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks, Sarah

Hi Sarah ...
There's a Public Member Tree on the Ancestry website that gives a birth date for Edward.
His parents were married in the (1890s?) and his mother died in the 1930s (registered in Northampton).
There was a birth registered for a Reservoir M.A. GOODMAN (mmn SMITH) in Newport Pagnell in (1913?), plus other children.
Apologies for the vagueness on the dates - I typed a detailed reply a couple of days ago and then managed to erase it before posting! - but they are all on FreeBMD.

Thanks for the reply Pennie - yes my Edward was one of about 14 children and most of them were registered. His older and younger siblings all are on FreeBMD but him and the sister next to him don't appear to have been registered for whatever reason. I presume they were travelling and didn't bother. It seems strange that all the others were and he wasn't though!
He definitely existed!

Hi Sarah.
Do you know where Reservoir Goodman died in 1934
as the Registration District Northampton covers many places.

I know it was not at Weston Favell Cemetery or
Duston Cemetery (this did not open until 1936).

Hi Sandy,
As far as I know she died in New Bradwell, they lived in their caravan on Newport Road until her death and at that point the caravan was burnt. The land became one of the Goodman scrap yards. Reservoir is buried in the cemetary in Bradwell.
Cheers, Sarah

Well Sarah that shows why I can not find the grave in our County.
Strange how it says Northampton District for death.
Bradwell would come under Newport Pagnall Registration District.

I had a look at the Parish Records Baptisms for Duston
yesterday but no baptism there for Edward under any
surname you gave.
Looked from 1903 to 1910.
Sorry

Hi Sarah.
I wondered if you still looked in. :)
Some one at Northampton Library has this family in his tree and
I went to New Bradwell Cemetery and took a picture of Edward and
Reservoir's grave which also had a couple of other family members
noted as well.
I guess you will already have it.
Sandy
