Hello, I was wondering if anyone who lives in Mayo or has been would be able to help me out.
I am hiring a car from Knock Airport and have never driven in Ireland before (Or any other country other than England ;D) I was hoping someone could help me out to advise which is the easiest and perhaps less daunting route to get from Knock Airport to Keel (Achill Island).
The N59 or the N5? ;D
Many thanks in advance

I'm not an expert on the current Mayo roads (lots of upgrades over recent years), but I'd go with the primary routes i.e. N5 through Swinford, Castlebar and Westport, then north on the N59 to Newport and on to Achill sound, and the island itself.

Hi
You can take the N5
It bypasses Charlestown and Swinford and goes through Bohola and Ballyvarry Villages.
You can take the road from either Castlebar town or Westport town to Achill.
I note you mention Ballycroy on your list as well, you will be passing nearby on the way to Achill.
Hope this is helpful
