Hi,

Looking for any Hodgkiss's around the areas of Madeley,Shrewsburyand Coalbrookdale,ETC in Shropshire from the 1600's onwards (or earlier)-I have a GGGGG Grandfather Thomas Hodgkiss whom married an Ann Whitacker in the early 1600's???

Any info, or if you're researching this same line then please drop me a line :)

I have a Mary Hodgkiss (1834) born in Dawley, near Shifnal, Salop.  She married my great grandfather, Thomas Humpherson (1829).  He was born in Little Wenlock  Would this information be of any help to you.

Have a look here http://www.melocki.org.uk/MelockiSalop.html I had a quick search  and there are Hodgkiss' and variants at Shreswbury St Mary & St Chad (under Lichfield Diocese)

Also try www.familysearch.org - lots of Hodgkiss in Shrewsbury and  Madeley from 1600s
