hi all, new to this forum. So I've hit a brick wall with trying to find Mary Mcneice, born 6th july 1872. I know she married William Gartshore but we think she also married a Glen and a Tennant (interesting lady by all accounts!)...finding it hard on the websites to find any records of any of her marriages- we think she went to scotland from Lurgan. She had two brothers, Daniel and Joshia. Anyone know where to find decent access to marriage certs?? She had daughters rebecca, maggie, agns, mary and a charlie. Thanks in advance

Actual Irish marriage certificates will not be online but there is the civil registration index (goes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties). The Irish BMD Index is available at this link (http://www.rootschat.com/links/0c8o/).
Scottish certificates, on the other hand, are available to download online, or purchase for more recent dates. See www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk to see what's available, how to purchase credits, search the index, etc.
Any idea of dates for thesse marriages? and what order they might have happened?
Added- where any of the children born in Scotland? Scottish birth certificates list date and place of parents' marriage (see Scotland's People website)

Found this McNeice family in 1911 census which includes a Daniel and family is born in Armagh so perhaps keep in mind-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Cromac/Balfour_Avenue/158416
same family in 1901 census-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Cromac/Balfour_Avenue/968105
Any idea what religion the family were?
Added- see next post

A Daniel McNeice, Lurgan in PRONI Will Extracts- "McNeice Daniel of Lurgan county Armagh retired government official died 23 August 1924 Probate Belfast 21 November to William O'Neill secretary. Effects £82 3s. 9d."
Another Daniel McNeice reference (obviously a fairly common combination of names in Armagh)-
Daniel McNeice, born 3 Aug.1870 Lurgan district no. 1 (page 704 in civil register), parents- Thomas McNeice & Catherine McConville.
Mary McNeice born 6 July 1872 Lurgan district no. 1, same parents.
Josiah McNeice born 23 Oct.1867 Lurgan (page 697 in civil register), same parents.
Margaret McNeice born 1 Sept.1869 Lurgan, parents Thomas McNeice & Catherine McConnell.
-
Also: Jane McNeece born 10 Jan.1866 Lurgan (page 714 in civil register), parents Thomas McNeece & Catharine McConville
Possibly more children born in Scotland?
Annie McNeece born 1 Nov.1874 Barony, Lanarkshire, parents Thomas McNeece & Catherine McConnell.
In view of this last record you might want to concentrate finding the family in Scottish records (census, deaths, etc.).

Ah yes
And in reply 7, but without complete dates.
-
Reply #7 was a re-cap of what's been found so far on the thread so exact dates weren't needed.

Hello Scotty75,
Do not know if you have Mary Mcneice's, death certificate she seems to have died 1947. Possilpark, Glasgow City, age 74 years, other names Gartshore, and Tennant. if you do not have her death certificate you should purchase it online for a small sum at Scotlandspeople Site. This certificate should provide her parents names and names of husbands.
Regards,
Jonn.

Hello Scotty,
You will find the Mcneice, family living in St. Rollox, Glasgow, on the 1891 census. Mary, is still living with her parents, plus brothers Daniel, and Josuah, and others.
The only marriages for a Tennant, and Mcneice, various spellings are,
1894. Robert Tennant, and Minnie Mcneice, St. Rollox, Glasgow, and 1905 Joseph Tennant, and Minnie Mcneice, Denniston, Glasgow.
Strange two Minnie Mcneice's, marrying Tennants.
Minnie can be a pet name for Minerva, and Mary.
I still reckon your first move is to get her death certificate, this should identify which Tennant she married.
Regards,
Jonn.

jonn, that is FAB!! There was great mystery with Minnie Mcneice that she married 3 times- and with two brothers!!! that would explain the two tennants!!!! delighted with that find!!! i'm making up my mums family tree fr her xmas present and she is going to be delighted!! thanks again ;D

So i've managed to trace a bit further back with this family via marriage certs etc...so it seems Robert tennant and Joseph tennant were not brothers..
She married robert tennant i 1894, his parents were Charles tennant and Jane ( maiden name Smith)
Minnie (MAry) then went on to marry Joseph Tennant who she married in 1905 , his parents were Andrew and Jane (maiden name Smith)...
So my question to you all...should i keep trying to go down this line? How, if at all can i connect the two? HELP
