Title: GREHAN/MANNION- BALLYNONAGH-CLONBUR
Post by: gilroy1790 on Monday 19 September 11 17:11 BST (UK)
Michael Grehan and Bridget? were tennant farmers living in Ballynonagh, Clonbur. There children were:

James Grehan born 1832, Joined Royal Irish Constabulary in 1853-1883. First married Mary Glennon in Roscommon, then Matilda McNicholl in Kilmaine, Ballinrobe, County Mayo.

Thomas Grehan born c1834, married Honor Walsh.

Isabella Grehan born c1845, married Thomas Mannion.

Most Grehan's went to America after 1883, some Mannion's ended up in Barrhead, Scotland.

Anything on these families please?

We have a Michael Grehan and Bridget Carroll who marry in 1825 according to Galway records.  They have nine children.  (Three of whom I do not have any information on and am wondering if your info maybe them).  The other six that I have extensive info on were born between the range of 1830 and 1848 and all immigrate to the USA.  One thing that stands out to me is the repetition of names (first and middle) Isabella, James, John, Mary etc.  In Bridget's obituary (1888) it states that seven of the nine children are living.  All six that we know of are living at this time, so one of the missing three is also alive and the other two have passed by 1888.

I'd love to speak with you further about Grehan connections!

Julie
