Title: The Comries of Kilsyth
Post by: picamarra on Sunday 18 September 11 16:36 BST (UK)
Hello. It is some time now since I posted any requests, but I am still researching into my grandfathers lineage and his life in Kilsyth.  ( See  previous posts on Comrie family) After having watched Alan Carrr on "Who do you think you are?" the other night , I did not realise that most pits at the turn of the last century had football teams to represent their respective mines. I have been told that the Comrie family ,who lived at 40,Newtown Street, Kilsyth, were quite sporty and  had quite a few players in the local pits team.  Can anybody please assist me in possibly identifying any of the players as being my relatives???  Many thanks.  Picamarra.

Hello Picamarra,

will see what I can do for you as i'm a member of the historical society in nearby Croy. As we have some notes that cover too and the local pits in the area of Kilsyth, Croy, etc.

Thankyou so much Wilton Endeavour. I did try and contact the Historical Society of Croy last year by e mail, but unfortuneately at the time had no reply.   Good luck and best wishes.  Picamarra.
