Hi,
Is there anyone able to look at the Hinckley/Shenton/general Leics records for me and see if they can find the following family?
Benjamin ALLEN born 1780/81 in Shenton
Hannah ALLEN born 1780/81 in Leicestershire
The above couple living in Coventry Street, Hinckley in the 1841 census. I'm trying to find out when/where they were married and Hannah's maiden name.
Also I have only found one child for them which is a daughter:-
Elizabeth ALLEN born c1822 in Hinckley
I am trying to find out if they had any more children.
Any other information that anyone finds would be great too.
Thanks, RM :-)

Hi BunnyGirl,
Thanks for the information - looks promising - guess I'll need to make a trip to the records office now.
By-the-way - where do I get Leicester/Leicestershire genealogy CD's from?
Take care, RM :-)

Some notable dates:
Benjamin Allen of Shenton buried in Shenton 29/09/1822 aged 74.
Benjamin Allen of Hinckley buried in Ashby Road Cemetary, Hinckley 20/02/1863
Hannah Allen of Stoke Golding buried at Stoke Golding 19/11/1843 aged 63. This is the only Hannah Allen in the Hinckley area dying between 1841 and 1851 so looks to be yours, giving a Stoke Golding connection.
Therefore Perhaps these childen burials are related (ties in below) -
Hannah Allen of Stoke Golding buried at St Mary, Hinckley 23/10/1837 aged 18.
John Allen of Stoke Golding buried in St Mary, Hinckley 27/03/1822 aged 6
And if Stoke Golding is a connection then perhaps this marriage is of interest:
Stoke Golding
09/011/1802 Banns
Benjamin Allen OTP Bach
Hannah Vezee OTP Spin (Vesey?)
And in view of the children above, there are several baptisms for children of Benjamin and Hannah in Hinckley from 1803, all at St Mary, Hinckley:
Mary Allen 24/09/1803 buried 12/02/1804
George Allen son of Benjamin Allen and Hannah Vizee (submitted) bap 20/11/1804, buried18/03/1805 at St Mary Hinckley
Sarah Allen 28/12/1806
Thomas Allen - 21/03/1809 ditto
Ann Allen 05/02/1810 ditto
John Allen 04/08/1815 (burial in Hinckley in 1822 as above)
William Allen 02/09/1818
Hannah Allen 22/06/1820 (twin?) St Mary Hinckley (burial in Hinckley in 1837 as above)
Robert Allen 22/06/1820 (twin?)
Elizabeth Allen 27/03/1822
Also Hannah Vesey had a child baptised in Stoke Golding in 1801 as a single mother - Rebecca Vesey 11/10/1801
Possible parents of Hannah Vesey - Sarah Vesey buried in Stoke Golding 06/07/1814 aged 63 (born circa 1749) and Thomas Veasey buried 25/01/1837 in Stoke Golding aged 87 (born circa 1750).
Finally, in respect of William Sutton the child on the census' he could be the first son of Elizabeth Allen and John Sutton who were married at St Mary, Hinckley on 04/12/1838. If this is the Elizabeth above she would only be about 16 when married.... This does tie in with the 1841 census though. An Elizabeth and John Sutton appear on the census in Hinckley in 1841 aged 15 (remember ages rounded down in this census) together with another child Thomas Sutton, aged 1 (second son - as first son William with grandparents).
