Hi - I am researching Francis McDonnell who married Martha Corry/Curry in 1866 in St. Lukes, Lower Falls. His Father is Patrick McDonnell (Policeman)married to Catherine Chambers and the parents of Martha are Joseph Corry married to Margaret Lennon. I am trying to find any information on these parents. I am assuming that Patrick would be a policeman in the RIC but I have not found any information on him. I have Joseph Corry living in Clonard Street on the griffiths valuation for 1860 - but again I cannot find any deaths for either of these people and would be interested in anyone who is researching the same families.

For Patrick's career in the RIC, you could contact Jim Herlihy at Blarney Garda station who has access to former RIC staff records and has written at least one book on the subject. His e-mail details are on the attached link:

Hi - thanks for the suggestion - I sent an email to this site quite some time ago and heard nothing back - now it could be that they are busy or they didn't find anything so I will give it another wee while and then send another! I have also posted a massage on the Irish Police genealogical site - but again nothing! maybe I just have to keep digging!

I believe the originals of RIC & DMP records are in Kew and that copies are in the National Archives in Dublin. You could search those. The PSNI museum also have access to the records but there is a search fee:

hi - thanks again for your suggestions - just had a look at the Dublin archives and the PSNI - both of which are options - (I live in Ireland - so Kew is out!) I might make the trip up to Dublin to see what I can find - he's got to be listed somewhere!
thanks again - I shall let you know if I find him in the Dublin records!
