Title: Speke in Llangollen
Post by: dornic on Saturday 19 June 04 17:03 BST (UK)
Hi:

I'm looking for any mention of a John Speke (b. abt. 1886, Llangollen), Fanny Speke (b. 1880, Llangollen) or Lucy Speke (b. abt 1953, Bath, Somerset).

In 1901 Lucy Speke owned and managed the Bull Head Inn in Llangollen after the death of her husband John (b. 1852, Hopesay, Shropshire). John and Fanny are their only two children.

The odd thing is I can trace this family back to 1767 in Acton Scott, Shropshire. I'm trying to now trace them forward towards the present day.

Adrian

John & Lucy and their two children are living at 20 Castle Street on the 1891 Census.

RG12/4638
Folio 26
Page 11.
Registration District: Corwen
Sub registration district Llangollen.

However it does say John Speke born Liverpool Lancs. aged 38.
Lucy born Bath Somerset aged 36.
both children born Llangollen.

Hope this is of interest.
