Micheal and katy ryan bennetts bridge i think they where my fathers parents my father was called daniel ryan and he had possibly ten other brothers and sisters anyone with any knowledge drop me a line please
-
any idea of dates ?
A good place to start would be your your father's marriage cert, or birth cert if you have that. The marriage cert would show his father's name and occupation, which should help you move further back.

well i think my dad was born in 1913 ish i dont have his birth certificate but what i can remember off the marriage certificate his father micheal was a miller and my mam mentioned bennetts bridge

No sign of a Michael Ryan with the occupation Miller that I see on the 1911 census, although maybe he changed occupation by the time of his son's marriage. There is a married Michael Ryan listed in Bennettsbridge in 1911, but his wife's name is Johanna.
Do you know Katy's maiden name ?

Didnt know my grans surname.I can go to st marys in newcastle where my dad and mam where married and ask for a look at the wedding certificate see if i can find out anymore from that.My dad died in 1967 when i was fourteen and there wasnt much discussed about him .My mother has also passed away and i am trying to trace my irish family there was said to be eleven children in his family so quite a large crowd to go on.I also am trying to get enough information to apply for my dads birth certificate. Its funny i dont even know his birth date

If he was born in, or near, Bennettsbridge then this looks like the closest match on the BMD Index... might be worth a try to see if it fits :
Name: Daniel Ryan
Registration district: Thomastown
Event type: Birth
Quarter and year: Jul-Sep 1912
Volume : 4 / Page : 583

Thanks for that Shane it looks promising. When he came over to England to live and work would there be any type of record over here for him
-
the main trace of him would be his marriage cert, he was born too late for any of the available English census. If you know where he lived you could try searching for Electoral registers.
