Hi guys,
Was wondering if anyone may be able to help me.
I have a Sarah Pye who was born in Blofield in Norfolk in abt 1838. She married a John Sisson in Norfolk in 1867 (he had been married previously to a lady called Ann Proctor).
However I can't seem to find any record of her birth, or her parents. She moved up to Lancashire between 1867 and 1871 and had wuite a few children up here. As I am from Lancashire I am not particularly familiar with Norfolk, or the area of Blofield.
Wondered if anyone may be able to advise on where to look for her records etc.
I am actually beginning to wonder if in fact she had been married previously as she was 29 when she married John???
Cheers
Vikki

I looked at that one myself, she has a son Louis at 2 mths old doesn't she. Funnily enough, Lewis/Louis is on the 1871 census aged 9 as a boarder and she is no where in site. I have been pondering on this for the last hour or so! Can't find anything else though

Sorry I didn't see the 1851 below!!!!
I hadn't found that one! That could well be her.

And 1841:

Pye, James M 40
Pye, Frances F 40

Although on the 1871 census I found for Louis (the son of sarah onthe 1861 census), he is living with a Charlotte Widdows who would have been born in 1830.
I then found a census record in South Repps, ???? (In don't know where this is) that has a Sarah Pye on it, with a charlotte pye who would have been born in 1830 ish.
And the father is francis Denton Pye!
Now I'm confused.

Hello Vikki,
Yes, this will take a bit of sorting out!
I've had a look at the 1871 census in Lancashire, after your Sarah married John Sisson, and she puts Norwich down as her place of birth.
Looking at the censuses KGarrad found, it seems Sarah's father could either be a James or a Stephen. The odd thing is, I can't find a Stephen Pye in the 1841 census ....
Anyway, here's a baptism that may well be your Sarah, in 1835. Her father is James, a Maltster, and mother Frances (nee Colman) - it's from the Norwich Bishops Transcripts. The entry is a bit faint, but it's about half way down the first page.

And if it is correct, here is her parents marriage - https://www.familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11673-84250-84?cc=1416598&wc=659458

Hi Yorklass,
Thank you for the baptism record, I couldn't find that. I had however found the marriage, and noted the Colman (that was a good guesshaha).
I thought the same about the Stephen/James. But everything else is the same (childrens names, area etc.) and I have a gut feeling that James and Stephen are one and the same! He was a widower on the 1851 and Frances actually died in 1850, so I am tempted to think that thgey are the same person!
Not sure about the Sarah on on the 1861 with the son Louis/Lewis though. I have a feeling this is not my Sarah.

Hi Vikki,
I've looked for a baptism for Louis/Lewis Pye to a single Sarah, but no joy.
I'm wondering why you think the Sarah with son Louis on the 1861 isn't yours? They both lived in Rose Lane, Norwich, where the family had lived for the last 20 years ....
The other family you mention, headed by Francis Burton Pye, are listed on Ancestry's Family Tree section many times - this Sarah is a Sarah Ann Burton Pye, born Southrepps, 1834.
Do you have Sarah's marriage certificate to John Sisson - that should show her father's name.

Hi Yorkslass,
The reason I was thinking that she isn't mine, is because on the 1871 census, Lewis/Louis, is living with a Charlotte Widdows, who woulkd have been born in abt 1830, and the Sarah from the Pye family headed by Francis Burton Bye, had a sister Charlotte Pye that was born the same year. I thought that maybe that Sarah, had left Lewis with her sister (who would have now been married). May well be off the mark on that one, and maybe it is just a total coinciedence.
I have looked at many of the family tree's of Ancestry, and actually a lot of them don't have Charlotte on for 1861 and 1871!! Maybe I am just looking too deeply into things!
I haven't gotten the marriage cert for John Sisson to Sarah Pye. In Lancashire we have some very good websites that allow us to look at marriages and what have you online to get more details regarding churches etc, and I was kind of hoping there may be one for Norfolk.
Thanks again

Hello again Vikki,
Norfolk is covered excellently on the Family Search website - and it's free! https://www.familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11673-84250-84?cc=1416598&wc=659458#uri=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.familysearch.org%2Frecords%2Fcollection%2F1416598%2Fwaypoints
As you'll have seen from the links I sent in the other post, you can actually see the parish register entries.
However .... I've looked on that site for the marriage for John Sisson and Sarah Pye, and I'm afraid I haven't come up with anything. You may have better luck.
They married in the registration District of Blofield, which includes Postwick, where I see some of Johns children to his first marriage were born.

Hi Yorkslass,
Sorry it's took me so long to come back to you, my little boy has been poorly (Doc thought he had chicken pox, but it turns out to be just a non-specific viral infection!! Kids eh?)
Thanks for the information. I didn't realise IGI had all norfolk on. I'm on with searching down the next generation now.
I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and get the marriage cert for John Sisson and Sarah Pye just to confirm.
Thanks for all your help.
