Title: 12th,Boys Brigade Company Bootle Liverpool
Post by: kerothwell on Monday 18 July 11 12:03 BST (UK)
Hi,
Could you help by putting a date to the photo. It could be my dad Alfred Edward Berry, born Bootle 27th,February, 1905. Or it could be Thomas Hendry born Bootle 11th, November, 1891.
Thomas Hendry. born to Minnie Hendry and Henry John Hendry. Henry John Hendry "born in the Shetland Isles" died July Qutr 1896.
My G/Dad Alfred Edward Berry married Minnie Hendry (nee Sinclair) "born in the Shetland Isles" 18th, October 1897.
Thomas Died of wounds 11/04/1918A Scots Guardsman. No. 16089 at Rouen. I have photos of Thomas's headstone. I am not sure who it is but I would love
to have your opinion. Much Appreciated  best Regards Ken Berry

Hi PruM have change the file number of the phot but it still won't send

Hi PrueM,
Hope I have got it right this time the photo is of either :- Alfred Edward Berry, my Dad born 27th, February 1905 Bootlle Liverpool

or

Thomas Hendry born 11th,November 1891 Bootle Liverpool. His dad was Henry John Hendry and his Mum Willeamina (Minnie) Hendry (nee Sinclair) they married in Liverpoo; 1887. They both were from the Sheland Isles. Henry Johm Hendry died in 1896. The My grandad married Minnie Hendry in 1897. Thomas Hendry was mobilized into the Scots Guards 26th 0ctober 1916 and died of wounds 11/04/1918. Being the Scots Guards maybe because Mum and Dad came from the Shetland Isles.Even at the end of WW1 I don't think my dad would have been quite old enough to be in the B.B. as you had to be 14 years old. The collar in the photo, as you might say,is pre 1914.??? The rifle I'm not sure of.There is some writing on the left hand side top edge just looks like a signature. Thank You for your help and Thank You as well if no success. I think its my g/ uncle. Very Best Rgards ken berry

Hi Ken,
You need to give it a really unique name - try your username + some random numbers (e.g. "kerothwell8934586734.jpg") and I bet you it will post first time  ;)
Cheers
Prue

Hi PrueM,
Going by your emails and requests, you must work 25 hours a day. I have been a bit crook for a while. Just making sure you got the photo. Please forgive me for emailing. I see the photo is in the forum.Fondest Regards Ken B

Hi Ken :)

Sorry, don't know how I managed to miss this one!

Very hard to tell which of the boys this might be, without seeing the entirety of the picture (the backing card etc, which looks as though it might be cut off anyway).  At a pinch I'd say it's your father, but without knowing more about the Boys Brigade and their dates and uniforms I can't be sure.  Someone else might come on and have a better idea about the date than I do.

Cheers - and apologies for not replying earlier!
