Can't  help you with your query directly, but you may find this site useful:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~donegal/

Glenties comes under Inishkeel in the Parish Projects section. You can post your  Ward and Cunningham family name in the researchers section.

Can't find a Civil marriage, have you any more info? Did they stay in Glenties?

This is a possibility mentoned on the  site above:

"Michael Ward and Jane Cunningham Household" in Dungloe, in 1911  It says they were in Glenties in 1901.

Cut and paste census details removed- please see this link:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Donegal/Dunglow/Dunglow_Town__Main_Street/901372/

Note: Family in Glenties 1901 - see 1901 census Glenties"
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~donegal/1901glentiesgort.htm
Says that Joseph Ward (son) went to Scotland and had 11 children. Gives email for someone researching this family.

Is this the family? If so, let me know as I have family in Dungloe.

When you get a reply, if any from Letterkenny, do let us know. Well worth contacting the researchers on Donegal resources. Here is the link to the page:

Michael Ward b. 7 Jul 1864 m. (1) Margery  McBreaty.
His wife died circa 1894 and he remarried I *believe* to a Jane
Doherty or Cunningham.

In 1901 he and Jane had three children Rose, Michael, and Annie.

He was a blacksmith, born in Carrickmagrath, Ballybofey, Donegal (or Killygordon, Donegal). 4th child of Samuel Ward and Margaret Kelly.

Brother to Patrick, Ann, Margaret, Samuel, Bernard, John, Mary, Thomas, Hugh, Joseph, and another Hugh.

Don't know if your Michael is the same as my Michael but it's worth a look.

Michael WARD died 1944 Dungloe. Jane DOHERTY died in 1953. Son Michael died 1984 and another son (at least I think he is a son) Patrick of St Crone's, 1912 - 1994.

All buried in Dungloe.
