Hi,
My parents recently scanned a lot of family photos and sent them to me. The two I have attached were in the batch, but no-one has any idea who they person were, when they were taken or in fact anything about them. I guess they could just be random photos, but it would be useful if I could get some idea about when they were taken, so I can narrow down, who in the family was of a similar age at that time.
If anyone has any ideas about how I can identify the dates, these photos were likely to have been taken it would be really helpful !
Thanks
Victoria

looking at the room decor (assuming that it is not a studio) and the shoes that she is wearing and the hair style I would guess at late 1800's early 1900's. The clothing though looks older.

The first one's a bit odd looking & I'm leaning towards the opinion that it's not from the UK.
Late WW1 & possibly into the early 20's I would suggest. It might be useful to know what it is we're looking at,if it's a postcard & what's on the back.
The second one around the same time.

I agree with Jim :)

I wonder if they could be related...there are similarities in the features...my first instinct was 1920s too.

Very similar Sylvia.

I wonder if the lady in the first photo is expecting a baby...that dress looks as though it was made to accommodate and expanding waistline ;D ;D
Carol

That is exactly what I thought Carol - that she is sitting in that position to minimize her bump!

Hi Judy...Yes...and her left hand is protectively cradling her tummy ;D ;D

First one is 1920's, studio pic, looks a bit "Theatrical". second one later, but not much.
- I'd say it was the same person...

Before reading Jim's post, this was exactly my thought.
I'm not sure that it's the same girl, though they do have a similar look.

I'm not so sure she's pregnant, I've seen that style of dress on quite a few younger ladies/girls and believe it was just one of the fashions of that past-war era. The dress itself looks to be made of wool or something heavy like that - and yes, I also think the photo's not English/British/UK :)

Hi
Thanks everyone for your help. I spoke with my parents this morning, and they are going to dig out the photos to see if they are postcards etc. 1920s is a good start for me though, as it narrows down who it might be (assuming they are part of the family!!!).
Thanks
