hello. can anyone help me with information on a Charles Frederick McKinney who died in Vancouver, B.C. in 1961. (jan 6th.,)his obit reads that at the time of his death he had been pre-deceased by his wife, Maureen Vivian, in 1955, and that he left behind 2 (orphan) children ; Maureen Vivian and Timothy Tyrone. he may have been connected to the 'canadian Legion?'any help will be greatly received as we have lost touch with the family from the time of his death.

I see he was only 30 when he died so was only 24 when his wife died. The children must have been very young when their father died. I wonder if they went to relatives or were adopted in which case there may have been a name change, the surname at least.
Just a couple of thoughts, no help at all. :)

If you are serious check to see if he had a will - possible if he knew he was dying.
You could also check legal documents about custody, did he have custody of his children at the time of his death? For someone so young and possibly in the army the kids may have been living with some one else for all their lives. Find that family name, check city directories and move through the years. Time consuming. Most newspaper archives available on the web you might have more luck there.
Also if you can find the obit track any siblings mentioned.
50 years is along time and with both parents dying young there may not be a happy reunion in the offing.
Failing all that try Lost and Found on Craigslist Vancouver.

I checked through the British Columbia Vital Statistics Indexes website checking for a will but did not find one.
Do you have a copy of his death registration it will indicate cause of death. Perhaps it was a sudden death ie accident or
illness. As I mentioned his death registration will indicate.
If you do not have the registration Google the Cloverdale Branch of Surrey Library and give them the numbers off the Registration
and they will email you a copy. Cost is $3.50 Canadian or perhaps someone can go to the Library and look it up and print it off for I believe the
cost is .50.

Hello, my name is Shaun Karns. I stumbled across this thread and was quite taken by surprise. Charles Frederick McKinney is my grandfather. My mother is Maureen Vivian McKinney who also has a brother Named Timothy. My mother and her brother were both adopted seperately and we have no connection to any family members mainly because we don't know who they are. As the story goes Charles had passed away as well as his wife (my grandmother) Gladys who was a Native Canadian.
Please tell me who you are and why you are searching for this information.
Thanks,
Shaun Karns

Plus, I'm curious as to how you found all this information. Me and my sisters don't even know Timothy's middle name.
