Title: Dairy Fold, Leigh, Staffordshire COMPLETED
Post by: Berrie on Sunday 04 September 11 17:05 BST (UK)
A possible relative of mine, Robert Hollins, died in 1779, aged 61, and it said on the MI that he was of Dairy Fold. I can't find Dairy Fold on the old maps I've looked at and wondered if it had been renamed Dairy House?

Hello,

I would think it is quite possible. On the 1841 census, a John Hollins and family are at Dairy House in Upper Leigh.
Actually the family is transcribed as Kelling and the family of Thomas Hollins at Bittern's Dale is Kollins with children on next page as Wollins.

Please accept my apologies if you knew this already.

Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, I had the information from the 1841 census. I'm descended from Thomas Hollins of Bitternsdale. I'm trying to sort out if/how Thomas and John were related and where Robert might fit in.

I have just received the will of Robert Hollins. He is from Dairy House, not Dairy Fold, so the name must have been recorded incorrectly on the MI.
