I am trying to find any info no matter how small on my late grandad John James Gill (jack)....
He was born on the 15th August 1911 and all i know is he was born in Ireland (Cork County) i am led to believe.
Also i have been told he had a sister who was a Nun and a brother who moved to Jersey Channel Islands..
My Grandad then moved to Burnley, Lancashire in the 1940's so between the 30 yrs inbetween i am not sure where resided.
If anyone knows any info on his parents/siblings i would be extremely grateful.
I have tried researching irish birth records but to no avail unfortunately...
Kind Regards
Kellie-Ann

Have you found the marriage for John ?
A cert for this would show his father's name and occupation and could help locate the family on the 1911 census..

Hiya Shane
I think he only married my Grandma in the 1980's it was a very strange set up as she was married to someone else for many years and had 3 previous children that she kept quiet to my grandad about.
So information from my grandma was very cagey and suspicious plus she kept herself to herself and i only ever saw her twice in 33 yrs, so that's why info i have of my grandad is very limited.

have a look at the introduction topic above....
there's an Irish BMD Index available on the FamilySearch website, and once you find possible matches you can order certs from the GRO (Ireland) using the index details.
