Title: where is Camoris

Hi does anyone know where Camoris is in Queens Co.  As per the 1901 census it says on birthplace for Julia Phelan Camoris but i cant  find any information about this place  thanks

I presume this is your Julia Phelan in Mountmellick ?

Looks like 'Camoris, Qu. Co.' to me ... the husband has also given a town as his place of birth and the 'Mt. Mellick' followed by the same 'Qu. Co.'

Have you found Julia on the 1911 return to see what that return states for place of birth ?

You can check for town and townland names on the townland database at http://www.thecore.com/seanruad  No townland that I see named Camoris - maybe a mistranscription/mispelling/mishearing of Camross ?
