Hi looking for information on Laurence & Mary Fox as per census lived in rope walk, drogheda. Had children Thomas (1882), John (1884), Agnes (1886), Elizabeth(lizzie)(born 1895 and Laurence born 1899/1900. Mary fox was from mountmellick I believe and her daughter Lizzie married a Martin Phelan also from mountmellick think he was born 1892 circa. Any information about fox or phelan would be greatly appreciated thanks

Have you found a marriage record for Laurence & Mary - do you know her maiden surname ?
1911 census for reference : Fox family, Drogheda (http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Louth/Fair_Gate/Rope_Walk/571612/)
Based on the ages for Laurence & Mary on the 1911 return they were born before the start of civil records, so you would need to search for parish records for them.

Hi I think Mary and Laurence married about 1880 in mountmellick I think she could have been Phelan I al only guessing that as they had a visitor in the 1911 census Susan Phelan, mountmellick . her granddaughter Lizzie also married a martin phelan from mountmellick so just trying to see if Martin and Susan and Mary where related

St. Peter's Parish Cemetery, Drogheda:
PHELAN: Patrick Phelan, Marian Park, 25th November 1979. His parents, Martin, 4th February 1950. Elizabeth, 5th December 1966.
There is a Fox inscription that may be of interest:
FOX: John Fox, 14th February 1917. His wife Jane, 16th April 1954. His sons, Laurence, 30th June 1947, John, 19th August 1965. Laurence Fox, interred in this cemetery. Patrick (Paddy) Fox, 16th March 1990.

Thanks for that information jbhall, yes the phelan is my great grandparents grave
Maybe the John Fox you mention was Elizabeth's brother as I know she had a brother John, Thomas, Laurence and sister Agnes. I will have to try and dig further
Just a quick question is the John fox you mention in St Peter's too? thanks again Sav

there's a good possible match for the birth of the youngest child in the Phelan household on the 1901 return - might be worth a try to confirm Mary's maiden surname :
Name: Laurence Fox
Registration district: Drogheda
Event type: Birth
Quarter and year: Oct-Dec 1898
Volume : 2 / Page : 365
census return for reference : Phelan household - 1901 (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Louth/Fair_Gate/Roperwalk/1567293/)

Marriage of Laurence Fox & Mary Phelan - 2 May 1880 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/fababe1382445)

A civil cert would show occupations - here are the BMD Index references :
Name: Laurence Fox
Registration district: Dublin South

Quarter and year: Apr-Jun 1880
Volume : 2 / Page: 620
Name: Mary Phelan
[same index refs. as Laurence]
