Do you think she was privately baptised as she was illegitimate? As far as I know this part of my family was not wealthy and I believe there was a charge for a private baptism, is that right?

I don't know whether there was a charge for a private baptism, I have not heard of that before.

Often baptised privately if the baby was sickly and possibly not expected to survive.
