Hi All,
If any kind soul is planning to visit the Birkenhead Reference Library and could help me by looking at the cemetery records to identify which cemetery Mary Ann REID, died 15 Feb 1933 (death registered at Oxton) is buried in, I would be greatly appreciative.
Very Kind Regards

Hi Colin
I was in Birkenhead library today so had a look at the burial records for you. I checked Flaybrick cemetery - C of E Non Conformist and Roman Catholic. I did the same with Bebington cemetery (Landican didn't open until 1934). Unfortunately couldn't find the burial for Mary Ann in either cemetery.
However I did find a record for this memorial inscription taken from the graveyard of Woodchurch parish church (Holy Cross) -
Grave number 877
Robert Reid Died 23rd August 1931 aged 78. Also wife Mary Ann Died 15th February 1933 aged 77.
Due to copyright reasons I can't reproduce the whole document containing the memorial inscriptions but the information above is just for your own research.
So it looks as though Mary Ann is buried in the graveyard in Woodchurch parish church.
Hope this helps

Hi Neptune,
Thank you so very much for your kindness and your time. This is exactly the information, and more, that I was hoping for.
I am wondering though if you are able to tell me what exactly a record of memorial inscriptions is?
Am I right in assuming it is some sort of list made up by volunteers, or is it some more formal document? Any explanation would be most useful.
Again, my heartfelt thanks.

Hi Colin
You're welcome -
Yes it's a list that someone has compiled of the grave/memorial inscriptions on the graves at Woodchurch parish church.
Publishing of the document is subject to copyright but ok to let you have the piece of information for your family research.
I hope that's ok.

I do appreciate it.
Very best regards.

Hi again Neptune,
I am a bit slow on the uptake I am afraid. Do you know if the grave number is an actual plot number or just the order in which the inscriptions were copied?
Sorry to be a nuisance.

Hi Colin,
I'm not able to access the database at the moment but I'm pretty sure from memory that it is the actual grave number. When I am able to access in a couple of days I will let you know for sure.

Hi Gwerninion
It's really good of you to take the photograph of the grave at Woodchurch.
I'm sure Colin will be pleased.
Colin -I've just checked the memorial inscriptions database and 877 is the grave number - and please don't worry - you're not being a nuiscance!
(the only other Reid I could see was John and Sarah Reid and daughter Gladys Artherton)

Hi Neptune and Gwerninion,
Thank you both so very much.
The photographs are just the ticket and the grave location details will allow my grandchildren to visit the grave at some point and connect with their ancestors.
I am not ashamed to admit that I am sitting here somewhat misty eyed at the kindness of two total strangers.
The heartfelt thanks of myself and my family go to you both.
Colin
