Hello there,
Well this is my first visit to the board so I hope I'm following the rules correctly! ;D
I'm looking for information about my husband's family who originated from Athy in Co Kildare.
His mother was Mary (Maisie) Cunningham born 1938 sadly passed away at the beginning of August this year.
Maisie was born to Laurence Cunningham and Ellen Bowden.
Her siblings were Peter died 1999, Laurence (Larry) died 2002, Margaret died in Australia unknown date and there are three other living siblings.
Her father Laurence Cunningham b. 1900 married Ellen Bowden b. 1900. He died in 1967, Ellen in 1975.
Laurence was the child of Lawrence Cunningham b. abt 1869 and Anne Rowan b. abt 1869. His other siblings were Mary b. abt 1901, Chritiana, Martin, and James.
On the Bowden side Ellen was the daughter of Peter Bowden and Margaret Carey. Her siblings Mary E, Margaret, Johanna, Bridget and Christina.
On the 1901 Census the family lived in Canal Lane. On the 1911 Census the family lived in Canal Side.
The Bowdens lived in Dry Dock and Nelson Street.
If anyone has any additional info about the family I would be very interested to hear from them. I do know that the Cunningham family moved to England in around 1949 and I believe some of the Bowdens may have moved too.
They lived for some time (and I believe living relatives may be there still) in Cullingworth and Bingley West Yorkshire.
Hope to hear from someone and thank you in advance :)

Hi
I believe I am your husbands second cousin! Maisie's father (Lar) was my grandfather's (James) brother. If you'd like more information you can contact me and I'll help in any way I can. Sorry to hear about Maisie's death.
Hopefully talk soon
C Cunningham

Thank you so much for getting in touch. You must think me terribly rude not to have replied before. Unfortunately the research had to take a back seat for a little while. I do hope that you still visit the site. I've booked a surprise visit to Athy for Nick this Christmas/New Year. It would be lovely to meet up for a drink and a chat if you're available. We're staying at Kane's pub from the 29th December to 2nd January. I'm really sorry I don't know your first name, but thank you again and do hope to hear from you. Karen
