Hi, I have been searching for the family of Dorothy Hynde, born about 1586 in Quorn, Leicestershire.
I have searched the quorn sites, but can find nothing, although, there are many with the name of Hyde. Could these be the same family, but have dropped the n from the surname? She was married to Humphrey Greasley.
Any help would be grateful.

i can check PRs at Loughborough library, the records only started shortly before 1586 so not sure how readable they will be!!!

do you have the marriage? and any children? is it just parents you are looking for?
do think the Hyde spelling could well be an alternative this early on.

I'm sure you've already done enough for me, but thanks for the offer, you are very kind.
All I know, is that Dorothy Hynde and Humphrey Greasley were wed in Quorn on 3 oct. 1602.
They had a son William who was married to Mary Blount.
I have quite a few Greasley names, but cannot find anything much about the Hynde's. It may be possible that her father was Francisci Hynde, born 1560.
As there are so many Hydes in Quorn area, I wondered if it was possible that the name had been changed. Eileen.

Hi Eileen, sorry for the delay.
i found the marriage and also L'boro has the transcribed marriages back to 1576. point: both transcripts /IGI also had marriage listed as Mountsorrel so i think banns were read there too - probably Humphrey was living there.
could not see Dorothys baptism but the records are really hard to read.
did look on the local IGI and found:
Dorothy Hind 15/9/1683 d/o Henry & Elizabeth Quorn
so possible that Henry was another son of Humphrey & Dorothy.
also bap:
Humphrey greasley 25/5/1585 Quorn father William
Humphrey greasely 29/6/1604 Quorn father Humphrey
i think another son of your couple.

Thanks for that Diddy. I did know that Humphreys father was William, but don't know his mothers name. Thanks also for the childrens names. I appreciate what you have done for me. Eileen.
