A couple of queries / anomalies.
In the 1901 census, Tottenham, there is a plain Fredk c1867, his wife is an Ada, with children Doris & Leslie born Southwark & Battersea.
But in the 1911 Census Index, the same family (altho Fred now has middle initial J, and born Middlesex) appear to be in Edmonton? Additionally, the Index search seems to link him with a Mary A c1870, also born Middlesex.
Just wondering where the Beatrice spouse had gone since the 1906 marriage up in Barton?

Have you ruled out
RG11 432 77 61 - a Frederick Richardson age 19 with his Uncle William, a licenced vitualler?

Hi
Bancroft's school transfered to Woodford then Essex in 1884. Oringinally the school was called Bancroft's Hospital and was in the Mile End.

Thanks Valda, I will check the 1871 entry, it looks promising.
Despite having his passport, I have never been happy with the date of birth it never seems to tie up correctly.

Hi
What was his age on his death registration?

Hi Valda,
With regard to the death registration, I have just realised that I haven't found it yet, but i do have a photo of the grave which I will have to refer to.
How can I find the 1871 census that you found in ancestry?
Cheers

Opinion sought on this:
1881 Census
Frederick Richardson, 20, unmarried, drapers assistant, born abt 1861, Tottenham, Middlesex.
Resident on Regent Street with lots of other Drapers Assistants, bearing in mind that Bancrofts School was set up by the Company of Drapers is this genuine or a coincidence.
Your opinions sought.
Cheers

Hi
Bearing in mind he won't have filled in the census schedule for this property which has a great many entries (it might be where Lillywhites was/is today) which somebody else laboriously had to write into the schedule and the census enumerator then had to copy into his enumeration district book, the Tottenham part of the entry could be an error.
You are left with obtaining the potential birth certificate, since there appears no obvious baptismal entry to help and trying to track down any surviving Bancroft pupil records which may give some background detail.
The Drapers' Company has an archivist who should be able to tell you whether these records have survived and who holds them - probably not the Drapers Company
http://www.thedrapers.co.uk/Contact-Us.aspx
They have deposited papers concerning the Francis Bancroft Trust that established the school

If you have Frederick's death date you can search to see whether he left a will.

Valda
