Title: Eliiott/Causby Great Gonerby
Post by: nvb272 on Thursday 18 August 11 23:31 BST (UK)
Hi

I am researching a Joseph Elliott who married Louisa Causby in Great Gonerby in 1851, Josephs father is listed as James.

Louisa was widowed and re-married in London in 1861 she was from Leighton Buzzard, i'm trying to find out if Joseph was a native.

regards

Neil

As the marriage drops between the 51 and the 61 census and you say she was a widow and remarried in 1861 the census is not much help so I would suggest that you get a marriage cert from the GRO, the info you require is

Joseph Elliot married Louisa Causby Sept 1/4 of 1851 at Grantham GRO REF No 14 - 547

Hope this is some help

From what he has said, I think Neil already has that (and is struggling to find anything else)  :-\

I've only just seen this and did some checking.

In 1851 census, Louisa is in Leighton Buzzard. Joseph is a brickmaker in Middlesex. He came from Leighton Buzzard.

I'd assume they both ended up in Great Gonerby in connection with the building of the Peascliffe Tunnel, which needed bricks. theer were huge numbers of brickmakers in Gonerby in 1851.

Yes, James Cosby was a railway subcontractor from Bedfordshire and lioving with a batch of brickmakers, labourers and miners. That prbably explains it.
