Hi there,
I've been having a problem this weekend, when typing a long message that exceeds the "message box", that the visible part of the message sort of returns to the top of the message, and then bounces down again when I type another letter, before returning to the top of my message. It means that I can't actually follow what I'm typing. To check the message I have to pause and scroll back down after each letter typed...
Its a little frustrating, and I've deleted some parts of a message in error.
I hope that you can understand my problem and if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong or how I can fix it, please let me know!
Best wishes, Jimmijam

I've never had that automatic scrolling problem myself and it sounds to a non-techie that you could have pressed 2 keys together by accident (maybe the scroll lock key and maybe an arrow key).
.
I've had a surf to see if I could see anything remotely helpful but all I found was somebody having the opposite problem (automatically scrolling downward) and that was years ago - so wouldn't be much good now.
I should think a more qualified person will come upon this thread shortly but maybe you ought to include the make of computer you have.
Good luck

I suspect you're using Internet Explorer and you need to click on the little icon that looks like a sheet of paper torn in half. This should fix the problem for you.

Hi JimmiJam
Further to Arranroots Reply
I also have the same problem ( & yes using IE8) and it is irritating, What I do as a work around is to type my reply in my Word processor (or Notepad) and then when completed, copy it and paste it into the Roots chat reply box

Sooooooo glad I looked here ;D
That problem's been bugging me for ages but I'm too stubborn to ask for help. Tonight was a 'last straw' moment - if you guys hadn't provided the answer, there'd have been a puter bobbing about in the North Sea as we speak. (Except we wouldn't be speaking cos I wouldn't have a puter :P)
Thank you!!!!!!
