Greeting’s Kev. & Welcome to the Leicestershire Boards.
It depends on what details you are hoping for. …….
Seeing the early date then you may be disappointed
Because only the basic information was give in those days. ….
Also it depended on the helpfulness of the scriber…….
Possible details :~
Bachelor, Spinster of this Parish.
Or sometimes the Parish they were resident in at the time.
Definite details :~
Date.
Method of service….Banns , Licence.
Name of the Minster who conducted the Service.
Signatures of the Witnesses.. .
And that’s all…. NO Parents names unless they were one of the witnesses
But then NO relationship given.
So We need to see the actually Record held at the Records Office.
But from my database of early Marriages I can confirm the Marriage did take place on the date & at the Church you quoted
And that it was conducted by Banns.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the prompt response.
The info you give is very interesting as, for the novice, you don't realise how spoilt we are with the more "modern" records.
I'll have to see if i can get some kind soul to go to the records office for more and hopefully that will turn up a little more info.
Best regards
Kev

Hi Kev.
I think the William Sherwin that you are researching is possibly my 4x GG. I also have very little information for him. Was his son William transported to the colonies?

A lot of trees on Ancestry have William Sherwin, born in Leicester in 1802 and dying on 25th January 1838 in Hobart, son of William Sherwin and Mary Higgs.
Convicted in Leicester in 1818 and sentenced to 7 years transportation.
Unfortunately, no details about his father's origins.
