Hello, After some time asking relatives i have now got a lead .....
*Martin Doyle, Kevin Street, Dublin time period around 1890 - 1905
Had a son Christopher Doyle born.abt 1894, later went over to Liverpool in his teens served during the WW1.
Any help with the Martin Doyle living in that street would gratefully be appreciated.
Many thanks Kev.

have you tried the 1901 census ?

there's a number of Doyle families on parts of Kevin street in 1901 but no Martin or Christopher that I see. (there's an Upper and Lower Kevin street) - see : Doyle, Kevin Street - 1901 (http://census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?census_year=1901&surname=doyle&exact=&firstname=&county=Dublin&townland=Kevin&ded=&age=&sex=&relationToHead=&religion=&education=&occupation=&marriageStatus=&marriageYears=&childrenBorn=&childrenLiving=&birthplace=&language=&deafdumb=&search=Search&sort=firstnameSort&pageSize=100)
I presume you have Martin's name from Christopher's marriage cert - what does this have for Martin's occupation ?
Shane
-
Yes got info off a marriage cert for Christopher Doyle. married 28 Jan 1922 Liverpool aged 28.
Father: Martin Doyle (decest) Kevin street, genarel labourer.
Not much to go on!
Many thanks

There are a couple of Doyle families with fathers name Martin in Dublin on www.irishgenealogy.ie - but no sign of Christopher at the moment...
Baptism of James Joseph Doyle - 1896 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/1063d81212770) and Bridget Doyle - 1895 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/2572641211644)
baptism of Peter Doyle - 1894 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/864f340953674)
baptism James Doyle - 1887 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/3d98021203989)
Did your Martin definitely stay in Dublin or could he have moved to Liverpool with his son ?
Shane
-
Martin Doyle was believed to have stayed in Dublin, Christopher Doyle went across to Liverpool apparently to get away from Dublin (no reasoning why tho)
I have tried to look up Birth Cert for Christopher Doyle but am at a lose on where to dig it up from on Ireland sites.
If any one can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Info i have got: Christopher Doyle born 1895 Ireland (Dublin) died 1966 Liverpool. Father: Martin Doyle, Dublin general laborer, is placed as deceased on Christopher Doyle marriage cert in 1922.
Going to hope there is possibility of birth cert showing father as Martin!

You can search the BMD index on FamilySearch, and order certs for any possible matches. (See links below). There are a number of possible births around the right time - see : Christopher Doyle birth c1895 (https://www.familysearch.org/search/records#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Achristopher~%20%2Bsurname%3Adoyle~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1894-1896&collection_id=1408347) Note that the Dublin districts are Dublin North & South, Rathdown and Balrothery.
Was your Christopher born in Dublin city ?
If he was, and was RC then it's worth rechecking the IrishGenealogy website mentioned earlier, to see if a possible baptism is added in one of the updates.

have you found Christopher on any English census ?
Shane

There are currently two Doyle families that I can see in Dublin city around the right time on IrishGenealogy where the father's name is Martin - both couples had children baptised in the RC parish of St. Andrew's :
Martin and Catherine - children Mary Bridget 1900 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/0d4d0c1217893)
Martin Doyle & Anne Bermingham - children James Joseph 1896 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/1063d81212770) and Bridget 1895 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/2572641211644)
it might be worth following these up on the census returns..

Yet again another brick wall hit!
If there are any Jedi`s or Ninja`s who can help me out with coming up with some info it would be appreciated.
1901 census - 20 Poole St, Merchants Quay, Dublin
Mary A Doyle - Wife Widower
Martin Doyle - aged 14
Christopher Doyle - aged 10
Mary A Doyle - aged 7
Eliza Doyle - aged 5
Possibly the husband was Martin Doyle and going on the ages (if bio-father) died between 1896 - 1901
I am having difficulties trying to locate info over the internet so any help please.
Kev
-
what is your link to the family - are you descended from one of these children ?
A birth or marriage cert for your ancestor would be the best place to start if you dont already have these
Shane

Is this related to this previous thread ?
Martin Doyle , Kevin Street- Help pls (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,536844.msg3907622.html#msg3907622)

I have relative marriage cert stating father as Martin Doyle deceased (Christopher Doyle) , i know the family came from Dublin area and that i believe his mothers name was Mary so its the best match that i have been able to come up with, if i can verify the husband of Mary A Doyle then i could eliminate or continue on this lead.
Yes Kevin street was another lead.

1901 census - 20 Poole St, Merchants Quay, Dublin
Mary A Doyle - Wife Widower
Martin Doyle - aged 14
Christopher Doyle - aged 10
Mary A Doyle - aged 7
Eliza Doyle - aged 5
...
The best way to check for the father's name for this Christopher would be to search for a birth cert for him on the BMD Index. The cert will show father's name and occupation.
Assuming he was born in Dublin City then there are a number potential matches that I see :
Christopher Doyle, births - Dublin South, 1889-1893 (https://www.familysearch.org/search/records#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3AChristopher~%20%2Bsurname%3ADoyle~%20%2Bbirth_place%3A%22Dublin%20South%22~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1889-1893~&collection_id=1408347)
Christopher Doyle, births - Dublin North, 1889-1893 (https://www.familysearch.org/search/records#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3AChristopher~%20%2Bsurname%3ADoyle~%20%2Bbirth_place%3A%22Dublin%20North%22~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1889-1893~&collection_id=1408347)
It's also worth trying the Dublin City parish records on www.irishgenealogy.ie - some possible Doyle family results were mentioned in an earlier reply - but no sign of Christopher at the moment. Further RC records are due to be added to the website later this year.

Married: Martin Doyle / Mary Anne Brady, 11 June 1882, Rathfarnham, Dublin.
Please could some one help in further information on the above relatives.
Mary Anne Brady`s father was called Thomas, they had a son Christopher Doyle born abt 1891 died 2 June 1966 Liverpool. Not sure on other children but possibly a Martin as well as a daughter.
Any steer in the right direction would be appreciated as i am finding it difficult to navigate around the Irish record sites.
Many thanks. Kev

what exactly are you looking for - do you have a marriage cert for Martin and Mary Anne ?
The Irish BMD Index is available on FamilySearch and the 1901 and 1911 census returns are available (free) on the National Archives website. Many parish records for Dublin city and parts of Co. Dublin are available(also free) on www.irishgenealogy.ie
see : Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html)

Is this the same Martin & Christopher as mentioned on your previous thread ?

Hello,
Yes its the same family search, i gained some information from a relative who has a copy of Martin`s marriage certificate (but cant find it at present) the only info that she had noted down is which i placed on this thread. I think i have found Marry Anne and children in the 1901 census and presume Martin had died between last child and 1901 census as Mary is down as widow. Cant find a match for Martin`s death.

....gained some information from a relative who has a copy of Martin`s marriage certificate (but cant find it at present)...
I think i have found Marry Anne and children in the 1901 census and presume Martin had died...
maybe post the details from that marriage cert when you locate it. The additional details on the cert (occupations, places of residence, witnesses, name of the church etc) might help you work back in time..
There's a likely match for that marriage in Dublin south district, which covers south city and south west county Dublin :
Name: Mary Anne Brady
Registration district: Dublin South
Event type: Marriage
Quarter and year: Apr-Jun 1882
Volume: 2 / Page: 618
The same references appear for a Martin Doyle.
Can you post details of that possible 1901 census match ?
i.e. a link, or their address, names & ages (see next post)
Shane

Is the possible 1901 census match the one mentioned in reply #8 (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,549608.msg4029781.html#msg4029781) ?
see : Doyle household, Poole St. (http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Merchants_Quay/Poole_Street/1299845/)
The best way to check father's name is to search for civil births or baptisms for the children. You would have to order civil certs to check father's name but many baptisms for the city area are available free on the IrishGenealogy website. I believe I already searched for possible Doyle children with father as Martin without success - see reply #4 (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,549608.msg3908746.html#msg3908746) Some of the parish records online only cover up to the 1880s or 90s, so possibly not recent enough for a babptism for your Christopher.
Did you try ordering any of the possible birth certs for Christopher from the BMD index mentioned last year (reply #6 (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,549608.msg3920289.html#msg3920289)) ?

The family on reply 12, 20/4 Poole Street Merchants Quay, Dublin 1901 census : Mary A Doyle.
I am looking at this family as the best match as she is down as a widow and the head of family. Martin Doyle seems to have died between last child birth and 1901 census.
Thank you for the marriage details for Mary A Brady, can look at getting this marriage certificate to see what information is on it. Yet again thank you for your guidance!

To save you time, you can discard the 1900 birth reference to Bridget Mary Doyle as she is one of mine, born Leeson Place to Martin Doyle & Catherine Doyle (maiden name also Doyle)

I am related to Eliza Doyle can I ask what relationship you are to Christopher?
1901 census

I have a connection with the DOYLE family marrying into my ADDISON line - Michael Doyle married Mary GALVIN, their daughter Teresa married James Patrick MILES/MYLES. Their daughter Mary Teresa married Ernest George ADDISON..
Would love to share informationl if anyone has connections to these families.

-
Hi can I ask is there any mention of a Martin, Mary Anne or Eliza Doyle in your family?
-
Hi, no - only have a Mary Catherine :-[ Michael Doyle (who married Mary Galvin) was the son of James Doyle and Catherine Bryan. In 1861 they were living at 8-2 Court Mount Vernon View West Derby Liverpool, only the two youngest children are shown as born Liverpool. Michael is a basket maker and Catherine is a lace worker. Michael is shown as a Stone Mason aged 17.
