Title: Hockley?
Post by: jmg1414 on Sunday 14 August 11 21:49 BST (UK)
Is this in Essex?..if so anyone remember a family called Passmore...they owned a little grocery and greengrocers shop there in the 50's.....Researching this family and have not got a lot of info...Fred was a cockney or an Essex boy as he had that accent....His wife Margaret was a small lady who was also a Londoner...I do not think they had any children..She died a while before him I think of M.S.  Fred and Margaret would have been born in the early years of the 20th Century....just clutching at straws at the moment...thanks

Hi Hockley is most certainly in Essex, it is a large village basically between Chelmsford and Southend on Sea, go to Google Maps some nice pics of the village.

Hockley is in Essex. If you have Ancestry you could search the British Phone Books.

Thanks for that I thought it must be I was taken to visit the people who had the shop when I was young and we stayed a while...we went to Southend I remember and I had the nicest peachy flavour icecream I have ever had...I thought the area around the shop seemed very green and pleasant..
