Title: Canon Pixma MG8150
Post by: tofgem on Sunday 14 August 11 12:17 BST (UK)
Does anyone own one of these printers?
I am considering purchasing one as it appears to produce excellent photo prints.
My first concern is its size. The specifications give its width as 47cms and the only place I could locate it is on top of a small filing cabinet which is only 45cms wide. I need to know the location of the feet, if any, to see if they would fit on top of my filing cabinet. I cannot find the machine in a local retailer and when I contacted Canon they told me that they only have the measurements as given in the specifications and advised me to find one in a local retailer - I had told them that I could not!!!!!
The filing cabinet is also under a bookshelf so in addition I need to know how much space is needed to lift the lid in order to scan.
If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Hi Tofgem

Go to the Argos website and find the item

Scroll down to Full product information

Click on
Be first to ask a question on Canon PIXMA MG8150 Wireless All-in-One Printer

Ask your questions there.

They were very helpful about the length of the mains lead on a tumble drier I was considering - it turned out to be too short!

I think it says they will contact you when a reply is posted, but that didn't work for me.  Just check back every day or so   :)

PCWorld apparently sell this model, so I guess you could go and measure it.

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/canon-pixma-mg8150-wireless-multifunction-inkjet-printer-07540856-pdt.html

There is a ask an owner button, no idea if you`ll get a reply.

Regards.

Steve

Apologies Linda. It didn't show up when I searched for it. I'll try asking there.

Thanks Steve. For some reason you found it on Argos when I could not.
I found it on the PC World web site, but it is not available in my local store and the web site did state that it was mail order only and not for pick up at store. I must admit that I was surprised at the difference in price. I too thought that PC World was expensive.
Amazon is slightly cheaper, but until I am certain that it will fit on my filing cabinet I cannot consider a purchase.

This review has a list of stockists who you can visit - http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/printers/1280827/canon-pixma-mg8150

It also has a close up of the corner showing a reasonable overhang.

Thanks Ken. I agree that there is reasonable overhang which suggests that it would fit on top of my filing cabinet.
I am not convinced that this is the device for me, but at least it appears to be a contender.

Just for reference. I took the plunge and bought the printer and it does fit. Three emails to Canon and although they sent me every piece of printed material they possessed, they did not answer the original question as to where the feet were located on the base.
I'll try to set it up tomorrow.
