Title: John Coddington Chicago
Post by: sue1959 on Friday 12 August 11 16:27 BST (UK)
Looking for any info on John Coddington. Born Lincolnshire and died Chicago, Cook, Illinois 27th June 1891.
He died of typhoid fever in Chicago But was buried in Albany NY. Any idea why this might have been unless he had family there.
I'm trying to trace an ancester of mine and this could be him. He was also a driver for C.C.R.R we as a family were told that he was a pony express rider ( possible fit! exagerated of course!)

Hello - Was your John Coddington (spelled "Caddington" in Cook Co death index) approx. 26 years old in 1891?  If so, there is no way he could have been a rider for Pony Express since it only operated for 18 months (Apr 1860-Oct 1861).  He wouldn't have been born yet.

Yes, death in Chicago with burial in Albany would strongly suggest family in that area.

Nick
