Title: LDS Library Belfast
Post by: MaggieTag on Friday 12 August 11 08:03 BST (UK)
Hi,

Grateful if someone could let me know what resources are available at the LDS. I have heard that there is not as much available since it reopened.
Are microfilms of church records etc available.

Many thanks

Margaret

Perhaps best to ring the LDS library and ask them directly. PRONI certainly have microfilmed copies of many church records but not sure how much LDS did have - unless you mean the civil marriage records?

I'm not sure if you are aware - the LDS Family History Centre in Belfast is closed for renovations until January.

As well as BMD indexes for Northern Ireland, microfilms of the actual registrations are available:

Births 1864 - 1880 & 1900 - 1912
Deaths 1864 - 1870
Marriages 1845 - 1870.

If you have a digital camera, you can take photos of the enties, although a small number of the films are very poor quality ...

As far as I am aware, they don't have church records, but you can check that with them.

Many thanks to you both for responding.

I have tried calling a few times but no answer, probably because they are shut!
