Post by: hamali on Wednesday 10 August 11 15:51 BST (UK)
Hi there

I wonder if anybody can help I am trying to get a birth record so I can order there birth cert.

Her name is Hannah Cissell she was born 1859/1860.

I have found her marriage to a John Edwrad Cox but I cant seem to find a birth record for her.

She was born Kensal Green or Chelsea London Middlesex.

Thanks for any help Ali  ;)

Hi Ali,

Could the surname possibly be spelt as "Sissell"?  Reason I'm asking is I've found the birth below:-

Name: SISSELL, Hannah
Registration District: Chelsea
Year of Registration:  1859
Quarter of Registration:  Jan-Feb-Mar
Volume No:   1A
Page No:   184

Theres also the following but she was born in 1854:-

Name: SISSELL, Hannah
Registration District:  Chelsea
Year of Registration:  1854
Quarter of Registration:  Oct-Nov-Dec
Volume No:   1A
Page No:   147

Hope this helps,
RM :-)

so annoying I have gone and put sissell in the 1861 census nothing at all and I tried the 1871 census as well still nothing.

And Hannah got married in 1876 /77 where is she in 1861 - 1877

so so so very annoying

So have tried Cissell as per her marriage  says and put sissell in as well nothing   ???

In 1881 she has her niece Louisa Cissell living with her as well then in 1891 she has dissapeared  ???

Oh well I will keep trying

Like you I couldnt find her on previous censuses at all, but did see the niece Louisa Cissell!

Who does she give as her father on her marriage cert? And what occupation for him?
and witnesses? were they Cissells?

Did you see the marriage update to show that the correct Eliza was WHELDON?

In 1871 RG10/Piece: 91 Folio: 14 Page: 22 Chelsea (Kensal Town?), same address as 1861, the Family is transcribed SIFFELL.

William is now calling himself Thomas, and the only children at home are Eliza jnr, aged 13 occupation Nursemaid - & Louisa who has Married an Edward Harper - they have 2 kids.

Now, theres no matching Eliza aged 2 or 3 in the 1861 we saw, so I'd bet that this is in fact Hannah  ;)

(Eliza snr dies 1874 - and Thomas in 1893

Deaths Jun 1893
Sissell  Thomas  73  Kensington  1a 67

Ah, Thomas Sissell (PoB shown Harlesden Green) is a Lodger with William and Eliza Munday in Chelsea, @ 1, Church Street in 1881 - RG11/Piece: 90 Folio: 41 Page: 6   .... I cant see the Munday's marriage, but I'm wondering if the Eliza is Thomas/Williams dau after all ?

Damnit - so where was she in 1861 ?

Marriages Mar 1875

Munday  William    Kensington  1a 216
SISSEL  Eliza     Kensington  1a 216
SISSELL  Eliza     Kensington  1a 216

See next posting ....

LOLOL I dont believe it - there's 2 Sissel(l) families in Kensal Road Chelsea ... the one headed by William, married to an Eliza, and the other is headed by the Thomas also married to an Eliza, that I've been following - & who DOES have a dau Eliza in 1861 (and 1871 as we saw, and who married Mr Munday !)

1861 census of Chelsea - RG9/Piece: 39 Folio: 67 Page: 23 @  Kensal Road ...

Thomas Sessel (sic) 40 Head born Willesden: Gen Labourer
Eliza Sessel 39 Wife Willesden
Annie Sessel 14 dau Chelsea
Louisa Sessel 9 dau ditto
Eliza Sessel 5 dau ditto

Marriages Sep 1844
ALLEN  Abraham    Kensington  3 274
BOLTON  William     Kensington  3 274
BUARDSELL  Ann     Kensington  3 274
COURTNEY  Charlotte     Kensington  3 274
LOWE  William     Kensington  3 274
REEVES  Eliza     Kensington  3 274
SAUNDERS  Louisa     Kensington  3 274
SISSELL  Thomas     Kensington  3 274

Thomas can be seen with 'your' William on the 1841 I posted...  :-[
