Title: Royal Shipwreck Relief & Humane Society of NSW
Post by: foeromeo on Sunday 07 August 11 14:51 BST (UK)
My great grandfather received a certificate from this society in 1944: 'John Horn for courage and meritorious conduct in attempted rescue work at the Pacific Colliery, Teralba, 14 May, 1944'

Does anyone know if/ where the records for this society are available?

Thanks.

Hi foeromeo,

Perhaps if you contact them they will be able to tell you if any citation documents have survived.

This seems to be the only mention of the incident in the papers

Sometimes the awards were not given until some time after the incident as they would have one presentation to all recipients.  If you trawl the papers you might find further mention.
