Title: Important document missing.Has anyone seen this book?
Post by: sootyjunior on Saturday 06 August 11 21:33 BST (UK)
I recently wanted to do some research about the Moravian Congregation at Malmesbury and the archivist tells me that the Congregational Diary for Malmesbury including the years 1870 to 1921 was borrowed by someone from the Bristol Moravian Congregation for an exhibition in 1957. This is the last known record of this book. Can anyone shed any light on its present whereabouts or even whether it still exists?

Sooty

Did you mean the 1770 to 1821 Diary covering the time Joshua Sutcliffe was minister at Malmesbury (1785 - 1802)? It is frustrating that is the missing volume.

Why don't you ask the local Bristol newspaper to put in a notice about the missing diary.  Someone's probably got it on their bookshelf and doesn't know what to do with it.
