Hi
looks like this thread should be moved to Ireland, I have no knowledge of Ireland
good luck
cheers cardiff :)

Have moved this thread to Dublin since Clontarf is in County Dublin.
Here's Edward Rossiter's household in 1911- both brothers listed as born Co. Wexford.

Here's James Rossitor in 1901 census-

are you sure James was married and widowed by 1911 ?
The census return has his marital status as single in 1901, but there's nothing entered for this field on the 1911 return..
Do you know the name of his wife or any detail of his children ?
If you want to find out older details of the Rossiter family maybe the marriage of Edward and Elizabeth would be the place to start. A cert for them would give you details (name and occupation) on the father of James and Edward.

there's a marriage match for Edward and Elizabeth on the BMD Index in the Delvin district in Co. Westmeath, which is close to Elizabeth's county of birth :
Name: Edward Rossiter
Registration district: Delvin
Event type: Marriage
Quarter and year: Oct - Dec 1891
Volume : 3 / Page : 139
Name: Elizabeth Casserly
[same references as Edward]
there also an Elizabeth Fitzgerald on the same register page, but a baptism for one of Edward and Elizabeth's children confirms her maiden surname - baptism of Charles Rossiter, 1892 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/9711881209334) (St. Andrew's RC )
Here's Edward with his wife and family in 1901 - Rossiter household Crescent Place, Clontarf (http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Clontarf_West/Crescent_Place/1270012/)

Ages are little bit inconsistent for both James and Edward between the two census returns .. but it looks as though James was born before the start of civil records (1864) but younger brother Edwards ages of 30 and 47, puts his year of birth between 1864 and 1871, so he may have a civil birth record.
There is one Edward Rossiter listed on the BMD Index in Co. Wexford during this time :
Name: Edward Rossiter
Registration district: Wexford
Event type: Birth
Year: 1864
Volume: 9 / Page : 1005
and also an extracted civil record for this birth :
Name: Edward Rossiter
Birth date: 24 May 1864
Birthplace (District): Crossabeg, Wexford
Reference : 1005
Parents : Charles Rossiter & Bess Dempsy
So if the father listed on the marriage cert for Edward and Elizabeth is Charles then you could order this birth cert for Edward to establish exactly where your Rossiter family lived at the time... and possibly where James was baptized.

have recieved edward and lizabeth marriage cert which gives edwards father as christopher no mothers name

Irish marriage certificates never list the mothers' name- only father's name and occupation will be shown.
