Hi I'm trying to find information on a Hugh Mcinteer b.1854 in antrim.I have looked over many sites to try and find him but no luck,All i know about him is he was born in 1854,his father was Thomas and his mother Maria.I have no other info exept he had a brother called Alexander b. 1853 Also in Antrim.I hope someone can point me in the right direction as to where else to look :-\
Ohh and it seems that both brothers were policemen so its possible that Thomas was too as a record was found listing him in edinburgh as a policeman.I think they moved from Ireland around 1860 would there be a perticular reason as to why they would leave?
Thank you all in advance,
Ange.

Update.....it seems they may have moved before 1860 as i have found a sister Mary born in 1856 in edinburgh and Thomas is listed as a police constible.

Mary's Scottish birth certificate should list date and place of parents' marriage as well as mother's maiden name. You can search for it and download scanned image from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk if you haven't done so already.
-
No i havent done that yet as i dont have access to it at present :-\ I hope to look in to that soon, thanks :)

Scotland's People website is pay-per-view for everyone- £7 for 30 credits (credit to view index from search results and 5 credits to download image).

Hi all i'm trying to trace Thomas mcinteer born 1828 in antrim,He married maria dunbar but cannot find a marriage for them.I would like to find Thomas' parents too as this family is a major headache, they seem to appear from nowhere, maybe the spelling of the name changed as on Thomas' daughters birth entery it is spelled mcintee.I know Thomas moved from ireland between 1854 and 1856 and he was living in edinburgh in 1856 when his daughter was born.
Any help or info on where i might look would be great,
Thanks for looking. :)

Have merged your two threads since they are both about the same Mcinteer family.
Didn't you get the birth certificate for Mary Mcinteer (1856) as I suggested in May? It should list date and place of her parents' marriage.
You haven't mentioned the family's religion but if Thomas and Maria married in a Catholic ceremony there will only be a church record of the event (pre-registration church records sometimes don't contain much detail). If it was a non-Catholic ceremony after 1845 it will be listed in the civil registration index and you'll be able to order a copy of the certificate (although far less information than Scottish certificates).
Have a look at Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start? (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,498742.0.html).

No idea where to look now ??? totally frustrated with this family lol. Everywhere i look i come to a dead end.
-
Any other children born in Scotland?
-
They had 3 daughters all born in edinburgh 1. is registered as may(mary) born 01/04/1856 2.catherine born 01/05/1858 3.Margaret born April 1860.
-
The years 1856 - 1860 were the only years that Scottish birth certificates didn't include the parents date and place of marriage. These births all fall into that timespan. Most unfortunate!
-
NOOOOOOOOOOO!! :o anyone got any clue what else i could try??
-
Have you found the baptism records of the children born in Edinburgh? They might just have the odd clue.

Do you think the James McInteer (visitor on 1861 census) is Thomas's older brother? He appears on the 1881 census (Edinburgh)with wife Jessie and one of his children is called Thomas and another, Hugh born in 1867. He seems to have married in Scotland (before 1867) so perhaps you should look at his marriage to Jessie and perhaps find his father and mothers' names?

ok got james marriage cert,it lists his parents ;D parents are Hugh and Bridget(nee maloney). It doesnt say where they were from or when they married.I did find their deaths listed bridget(1840) and hugh(1849) in manchester so i was wondering if there is some way to find out when they came to england and where they came from?
