I am looking for information on William H. Brewer born July 12, 1860 in Cornwall. He married Jane H. (Herring/Hessing??) around 1886. So actually looking for parents of William, Jane's correct last name as well as Jane's parent's names. You will be my hero if you can help with this one!! Kim

Hi Kim,
Can you give us any more information? I am afraid there is not enough information here to give us a starting place. Do you have further information? Things such as do you know where they were born?, I see you have a date of birth - do you have a parish? do you know where they lived? Did they marry in Cornwall? Did they have children in Cornwall? names/approximate years of birth etc? Anything you know may help us locate the family.
Cheers Kris :)

No information was listed on William's obituary other than Cornwall as place of birth. His wife Jane was born August 9, 1862 in England. That's all the information that was given for her as well. I was able to determine that they married around 1886 from a census report. He emigrated in 1879. Sorry for such sketchy information but that's all I've been able to dig up.

Hi Kim,
You mention he emigrated - where to? If he emigrated in 1879 and married in 1886 it would seem the marriage was not in UK so you will need to follow that up from that end. Would childrens names perhaps help with parentage?
There was a William Henry BREWER born in Bodmin District Sep 1/4 1860 5c 92
Looking to the census he may be the son of William and Jane (born Lanlivery which is in the Bodmin registration district)
1861 he is in Lanlivery, 1871 he is in St Cleer where the family had moved. He is not with the family in 1881. Dad and brothers were copper miners if that helps.

Please note: this is only a possibility based on the date of birth you have.

Emigration was to Ishpeming, Michigan. I will attempt to travel to the County Clerk's office next week and see if I can take a look at the death record to gather some more information. This was all I was able to find from his obituary. Sorry for the lack of information - but thank you all so much for taking a look at this request. I will update next week with hopefully better information after my travels.

There is a Birth Reg that might fit if Jane was also from Cornwall;
Jane HERRING, Sept 1862, Liskeard, 5c *
From 1871 Census her Parents are JOHN/ELIZABETH

IGI has an Extracted Marriage;
Wm H BREWER, Birth England
Jane HERRING, Birth England
05 June 1886, Ishpeming, Marquette, Michigan
If you can look up the Marriage now you have a date or purchase the Marriage Cert it should provide further info, Parents names etc.

You guys are totally awesome!! Thank you so much. I am still going to follow-up at the County Clerk next week. I will update with what I find out. Kim

I just got back from the County Clerk's office. The information you guys found confirmed what was on the death record for brother James. Unfortunately William's death record is a mess. His wife is listed as his mother. His father is listed as Henry Brewer. I feel certain that we have the correct information with James' record and a major transcription error with William - ugh!! Next I am going to the public library to look up obits! Thanks again for all your help. Kim
