Looking for information on Richard Stone and Ann Sainsbury who married in Winterslow in 1727. Would like to date them further back.
-
Welcome to rootschat Holly. You've posted this in 'Beginners' but if you've got back to 1727 you must be a very competent beginner. ;)
I see the marriage of Richard and Ann on the IGI is a submitted record. Have you checked the original parish records to confirm this marriage and see if there is any more information included in the Parish Record? I see there are also records for baptisms for some children born to the couple. These are also submitted and should be confirmed.
What specific information are you seeking (eg Richard and Ann's births/baptisms?) What do you already know about the couple?

How kind of you to reply. I would really like to find birth/baptism records for Richard Stone and Ann Sainsbury of Winterslow. All I know is that they must have moved to Whiteparish after they were married and had a son Robert who married Hannah Prince. I have been able to track back to my whole family from this couple. I have no idea where to look to find any parish baptism records for Winterslow so if you have any ideas for me I would appreciate it. Many thanks.

I have no specific knowledge of this area but I will have a dig around and see if I can find anything that might be useful.
I will also ask a moderator to move this to the Wiltshire board where a Wiltshire expert may see this and be able to help. :)

There are some links here which may be useful:

It looks like there's not too much online for Wiltshire - not free, anyway ... :-\
(thanks for moving this to Wiltshire Kris :-*)

Before you go any further I think you really need to check all those submitted baptisms and marriage ...

Hi Holly,
A Big Welcome To RootsChat. ;D
and hi Ruskie. Sorry I didn't have time to take a look earlier.
There is a marriage licence bond dated 10 Oct 1727 at Winterslow
STONE Richard aged 27 a bachelor and farmer from Winterslow and SAINSBURY Anne 29 a spinster from Winterslow
bondsman Samuel SEARS a husbandman of Winterslow
The marriage took place in the 15 Nov 1727 at Winterslow
Cheers Kris :)

Richard STONE was baptised 17 Dec 1700 in Winterslow parents Richard and Elizabeth
Richard STONE = Elizabeth WHITE 5 Jun 1700 at Winterslow
Ann SANESBURY was baptised 10 Feb 1698 in Winterslow parents Robert and Ann
marriage licence bond dated 10 Jun 1697 Winterslow
Robert SAINSBURY 21 a bachelor, Yeoman of Winterslow and Anne SOPP 29 of Winterslow - marriage to take place in Winterslow (I don't see it listed in Winterslow)
bondsman John SOPP husbandman of Winterslow
Interesting that there is an extracted record on the IGI for Robert SAINSBURY and Mary SOOP 10 Jun 1697 at St Thomas Salisbury.
further transcript for this marriage lists Robert SAINSBURY of Winterslow = Mary SOOP 10 Jun 1697 Salisbury St Thomas
Cheers Kris :)

Your help has been amazing Kris I never expected to receive that much information. Are you able to tell what children Richard Stone and Ann Sainsbury had. I have recorded that I am related to their son Robert Stone baptised 10 Marcy 1738 in Winterslow but it would be nice to find out whether Robert had any siblings? Once again thank you for all your help.
-
Fantastic Kris! ;D How exciting this all is! (and it's not even my family) ;D
-
Hi Holly and Ruskie,
Glad to help
I can see baptised to Richard and Ann.
Ann 11 Oct 1728
Elizabeth 20 May 1730
Richard 22 Aug 1732
Deborah 22 Feb 1733
Sarah 21 Nov 1735
Robert 10 Mar 1737
Robert 10 Apr 1740
As you can see there was a second Robert, so first one probably died meaning you are likely descended from Robert 10 Apr 1740 . Please note dates. At this time the year began on March 25, therefore dates in Jan Feb and March (pre 25) were a part of the previous year. It does cause some confusion as some people log these dates the same as we would using todays calendar. With Robert some use 10 Mar 1739/40. I stick with the date as it was at the time.
Cheers Kris :)

-
Hello, thank you for contacting me. Yea I am very interested still in the Stone family mainly from Whiteparish and I believe Winterslow prior to that. It is my mothers side of the family. More than happy for yourself or your wife to contact me at holly.moulton@shaw.ca.
