Hi,
I can find a Gillespie family in Vernon Street on the 1911 census but the street is in Sligo!!!

I don't think they weren't in Belfast for the 1911 census, but went after that. I have 135 vernon street Belfast mentioned on a death certificate (1919). I want to check how long they lived there. So I need some with a belfast street directory.
But thanks for checking kingerswell.

1901, 1907, 1908, 1910 & 1918 are on line on Lennon Wylie. Mary Gillespie appears at 135 in 1918 only. There was also a GW Gillespie at 27 in 1910. Occupation bread server.

That's great Elwyn. Mary Gillespie is who I was looking for. Has anyone got a 1914 or after 1918 directory so I can track her movements. She married in 1919 ( I think joseph hamill)
Thanks

Joseph Hamill’s marriage to Mary Gillespie is registered in Belfast Oct – Dec 1919 Volume 1, page 792.

Hi,
The marriage took place on 13 Dec 1919 in Belfast Roman Catholic Church, Belfast Urban 15 which is the Divis Street area.

Hi,
A little more on the marriage. The fathers' names were Bernard Hamill and Daniel Gillespie.

Thanks that information, that's great. It ties in with what I have. I now want to know how long Mary was in the house on vernon street. I know she was in derry in 1911 and 135 vernon street in 1918. So I am trying to find out when she moved to Belfast.

Only head of household will appear in directories so it may not be possible to narrow down the date any more than you have already.
-
I know, but if I can see who was in the house in say 1914 I can work out if it was her house or her mother's house ( catherine ryder gillespie). Her mother's death certificate gives 135 vernon street as place of residence. I am trying to trace her mother's movement from 1901- 1911 and am drawing blanks. Vernon street is my only lead as no mention in 1911 census but she was alive then. I have her in the 1901 census. So if anyone has a 1914 street directory could you check who was at 135 vernon street belfast.

Thanks for the help. I got the answer on the Belfastforum.co.uk Mary moved in to 135 vernon street between 1914-1918. ( The family in the 1911 census was still there in 1914). I don't suppose anyone has a 1916 directory as I can really narrow it down ?
