Title: Ford Cemetry Liverpool
Post by: littleacornz on Saturday 30 July 11 08:10 BST (UK)

I think i have just located another relative that is buried in Ford cemetry.

I have the date, name and plot, but having looked on a map of Ford cant see the area.

Its a Bridget Purcell, 6 July 1904 grave X317.

I wonder whether it was a public grave?

Any help woud be great.

Thanks

Have you looked at the Ford Cemetery Website.  This could give some indication, by checking other burials from same year.

Here is a plan, X is in the centre and labelled Public.  Liverpool Records Office has the microfiches so you can cross reference who else is in the same grave, you may well find a lot of different names, but possibly buried about the same date.

Looking at the index page for Bridget there are at least three other burials named in the same grave -
Bridget Kearney age 75
Ellen Delaney age 45
Thomas Devine age 50

Thanks for your help, I hadnt seen the X section before.
This was my gg grandmother.
Her daughter my g grandmother is buried in AS section.
My g grandmother used to talk about her own grave for years before she died.
The idea that her own mother was in a public grave may well have had something to do with it.
Thanks again
