Hi Angus G
Have added the date and name alternative. It just saves having to search through your other linked thread, to find the information. :)

Looking for Jacksons in New Zealnd especially in the Hastiings area.
Sorry, should have asked .... are you wanting deaths /burial places for John Smith and Jane Helen JACKSON (or do you already have these ) ?
Can you please expand on the "JACKSONs at Hastings" ... and what information you already have for the JACKSON family ?
Cheers
~ Lu
-
Thank you Lucy2
I have the date but forgot to proof read properly.
and yes I quoted "Hellen" from the marriage record.
The Birth record 24 July 1870 at Stirling District Asylum, Larbert
Parish of Larbert is Jane "Helen" ROBERTSON.
I should also mention that John S and Jane H JACKSON according
to the 1901 census they, and children John S. & Jane H both 2 (Twins?)
and Hector age 1 were all born Inverurie.
All were living at Chapel CottageNorth Street, Inverurie.
.
John S occupation is listed as a) Grocery Shopkeeper WORKER
b) Chine ?? Merchant OWN a/c
So we know that The JACKSONS were still in Scotland on 31 March 1901
I wonder when they emmigrated to NZ.??
and if they went with David & Ann ROBERTSON & Family !!
I have no knowledge on the JACKSONS beyond what I have stated.
However there was a 2003 Post by a David JACKSON in the Hastings area regarding
Jane Helen ROBERTSON's brother John Kear ROBERTSON. I having
being trying to make a JACKSON connection because I do have some information
regarding the Vancouver Island ROBERTSONS.
A relative of mine (Agnes Ann WATT) a Widow was married to John Kear ROBERTSON

I am ignorant of the N.Z oppertunities to get BMD records.
how does one do that.?
Also is any one in the Hutt valley able to look at the Taita cemetery details?
Also what are the immigration records like to pinpoint
when the Robertsons and Jacksons arrived from Scotland
Angus G
-
Hi Angus,
Here is the likn to BDM's it is better to order a printout rather than a certificate as a) it is cheaper and b) it often has more information as it is a copy of the entry

Hi Angus
As a result of discussions I had recently with the Hutt City Council I understand that the on line website for the Taita Cemetery should be available for free access within two months. On that basis you should be able to search for the burial records in September.
I shall keep a look out for the website and alert you when it is on line.

Hi Angus
John Smith and Jane Hellen JACKSON both first appear on the Hutt (Wellington) electoral roll in the year, 1911.
They settled in Petone (pronounced "petonee") where John had a business "J S JACKSON, Grocer" (may have also been known as Thorngrove Grocers ?) in Jackson Street. [Not though, named for him. :D]
Petone is at the Northern end of Wellington Harbour - Lower Hutt is the adjoining suburb.
Seems John was active in local business and community affairs - and at a later date he also owned a building which housed other retail businesses.
I think the family possibly arrived in NZ in 1910 ... but see next post >>
-
You can view shipping lists (indexes only), from UK to NZ, at the following >
http://www.findmypast.co.uk/home.jsp
>> Click on "Migration"
What I located though, was jolly confusing ! So you are going to need to view the full record to make sense of it.
JACKSON - (all these showing with "Year of birth - unknown".)
a Jane H. / Jno. S. / Hictor [sic] - likely Hector ... plus there are other JACKSONs who may or may not, be part of this family
> 1910 - Liverpool to Auckland (NZ)
also (but listed as 1910 - Liverpool to Wellington) ... Jno S. and a J. Jackson who could be the young Jane Hellen ?
Remember too, that there may have been other children born to the JACKSONs after the 1901 census date. ;)
~ Lu
-
There was an "Annie K. JACKSON " - (birth year unknown), amongst those 1910 passengers.
And I've found her. ;)
JACKSON - Annie Kear (she's mostly living in the same electoral districts over the years, as John/Jane etc. )
NZ Death
1996 - JACKSON - Annie Kear - d.o.b. 14 July 1902
[Last shown on Hutt electoral roll in 1972. ]

Hi Janeys25
It is a pleasure to meet you.
The more so, since you are related to the ROBERTSONS,
and thru John Kear Robertson to my connection
Agnes Ann WATT.
Do you have any Idea who the David JACKSON who was
from the Hastings area and was researching our families?
back in 2003 or earlier?
-
Hi Angusg
It's been quite interesting reading these notices. Came across this quite by accident. My mother Beatrice Jane JACKSON is the daughter of Alexander Forbes Nares JACKSON. I am the daughter of Beatrice along with a brother.
I did a bit of research myself whilst I lived in the UK in the 90s and spoke with relatives in Scotland, visited them and they helped me with finding all the information I could get.
David Jackson, well, he's (unfortunately) a second cousin and did us all an injustice by informing the ROBERTSONS of British Colombia that we (all family members) were dead - including his own sisters! THere are still quite a few members of our extended family alive and well in NZ whilst my family live in Australia since 1996.
I'm curious to know who Lucy2 and Janette are?
-
I am a great grand daughter of hector from new zealand. ok I am now trying to trace John smith Jackson (senior) parents, their is a 1861 birth with the father Alexander but by going off the info in here senior was born in 1870, alexander is within my jackson connections ???

Welcome to Rootchat Brendan.
Thankyou for spelling out what info you have.
If you look at the subjects of David Robertson etc
and also John Smith Jackson on the New Zealand Completed boards you
might get some additional info.
such as David Jackson & [BOER-WAR] Natal Militia
Thank you so much for Headstone (M.I.) for David ROBERTSON and family
I have the lair details but did not have the visual proof.
How did you find them? Do you have any for the JACKSONS?
I have paid 25 NZ dollars to have the records for Arthur Robertson digitized
but so far have not heard from NZ archives that it has been done.
I hope it has, the money appeared on my Visa a couple of months ago.
As you can tell from the posts You have other JACKSON and ROBERTSON
family also trying to document the twists and turns in this story.
feel free to copy me om PM's regarding living relatives.

Hi Jackson and Robertson family, Im just beginning this journey of discovery and have loved reading your previous blogs. I am John Smith Jackson and Jane Hellen Robertson’s Great Great Grand daughter. My Grandmother was Hellen Elizabeth Quested. Thanks for the work that you have all done so far. Most helpful. Im keen to fill in some of those earlier Robertson gaps.
